As is true of obese people, and probably a lot of other behaviors that don't optimize (minimize?) public cost. Legislate it all. Doesn't really matter. Like I said earlier, the system works fine as it's set up. Demand is supplied. It's the ancillaries, and since most are happy with those, I have no problem with it either. Even I know when to stop pissing in the wind.

You propose that the public cost would go up if legal, I propose they would go down and that society (your taxes at work) is paying an inflated cost now, however great or small you might want to estimate that increased cost, because it's illegal.

I maintain that barges full of the stuff, whichever stuff you might name, are coming here now. Some significant percentage of the population is consuming those drugs now.
