If we are hogtied and forced to drive Smartcars, that is NOT saving the affluent US lifestyle.

Oh I say let those who want to drive their hogs drive them but make sure they pay through the nose for such a privilege. Water is dear in the West and most people let their lawns go brown in the summer even in water rich Seattle. However, there are those people who insist on having a green lawn 12 mos of the year and they pay dearly for that privilege esp. in the summer months when rain is short.

So the owners of gas hogs.....make sure they pay a huge premium for that privilege......and apply that premium to improving alternative energy efficiency.
