Oh, there's more than that. And on that one in particular, I don't think he would do well. He's changed his mind on so many things, he would do so there as well.

Earmarks are hardly run away spending. They are a problem but not a large fiscal problem. More of a legislative problem; expense items which become law without passing through the proper process.

McCain, moreover, is the creature of so many lobbyist groups, he could hardly stop the spending. It's more likely to be yet another way in which he is the third Bush term.
