According to a Wednesday report from Japan, Toshiba Corp. intends to advance its production increasing plan schedule for NAND flash. It is predicted that the monthly capacity for 12-inch wafer will reach 110,000 pieces at the end of this year, advancing 3 months compared to the original plan to reach such amount.

In addition, Toshiba will also expand the scale of its fab 4. After increasing the production amount, monthly capacity will get to 150,000 pieces till March 2009.

Meanwhile, the main process for fab 4 will be upgraded from 56nm to 43nm. The company estimated that the ratio for 43nm in this fab will rise to 50% in September and exceed 90% till March next year.

Besides, Toshiba has determined to invest more than 1.7 trillion yen to build its NAND fab 5 and fab 6 in the spring of 2009 to satisfy the increasing demand in the NAND market.
