I am seeing where there are world wide demonstrations against high oil going on today and china increase prices on oil to reduce consumption. Perhaps this would be the appropriate time for the US to release some of the strategic reserve and say this is being done for the benefit of the world economic system, not just US consumers. Oil is down $3 on china news, perhaps such a release could break the back of the speculators.
After todays debate, i have come to believe that i was right last week not today and that $140 oil will break the world economy and cause hardship and that this needs to be taken care of first before we launch a world-wide effort to reduce the dependence on oil. No wonder the Saudis freaked last week. They see whats coming.
