Interesting refs, thanks,

"Does it strike you as odd that the blogger only selects one part of the atmosphere to make his case?"

The graph used for the blog was very ambiguously labeled and thus misinterpreted as covering a thick portion of the atmosphere. The author has updated his post accordingly. It is still very interesting data, imo.

"....to make his case?"

He is reporting an interesting data point, that is all. What case do you think he is he making? The "water vapor as greenhouse gas" numbers that he cites are similar to the numbers that are cited in the paper you list. He points out that water vapor is the most important greenhouse gas and writes "...water vapor and clouds which causes up to 70% of the greenhouse effect on Earth". The article you reference states:

"Making some allowance (+/-5%) for the crudeness of my calculation, the maximum supportable number for the importance of water vapour alone is about 60-70% and for water plus clouds 80-90% of the present day greenhouse effect."

So the only thing that strikes me as odd is that you feel it necessary to attack a post that says the same thing as the references you cite to back your strange attack, with the exception that the attacked post presents some interesting new data. The first article you reference is from 2001. Any newer balloon data available?
