Ted, > I am not threatened.......I am worried about the well being of our children. Homeschooling is fine so long as certain standards are met. Otherwise, I am opposed.

Some kids are coming out of K-8 public education not being able to find America on a map. A lot of kids going into high school can hardly read.

The ones who can't usually don't have parental support at home. I never realized how important reading to a kid at home is or demanding that a kid get good grades. It really makes a huge difference. And if the teacher shows parental like concern, typically the kids respond positively. I found that out this past semester.

Whatever "standards" you want to apply to homeschooling better be applied to your fellow public school teachers. Of course, we know the teachers unions favor seniority over performance.

The standards for teachers are much higher than any homeschooling standards will be. All the teachers I have met work hard. For the most part, the problem is not our teachers.
