It's the dogs I worry about with the skunk.

Had a skunk problem a few years back and kept a Premium Grade Valmet by the front door with #2 steel. 2 Blacks showed up at my door selling magazines. They got pushy and pulled the race card asking if I was worried about two black people being at my door. The argument was over when I showed them the Valmet and asked them if they were worried I was getting pissed and had a shotgun in my hands. A 12 ga stops a lotta bullshit.
