Global Copper Corp. Announces Definitive Agreement with Teck Cominco Limited

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(MARKET WIRE)--Jun 20, 2008 -- Global Copper Corp. ("Global") (Toronto:GLQ.TO - News) is pleased to announce that it has executed a definitive agreement whereby Teck Cominco Limited ("Teck") (Toronto:TCK-A.TO - News)(Toronto:TCK-B.TO - News)(NYSE:TCK - News) is to acquire Global by way of a Plan of Arrangement under the Business Corporations Act (British Columbia). The terms of the agreement were outlined in a news release dated April 14, 2008 which can be found on Global's website (www.globalcoppercorp.com) or on SEDAR (www.sedar.com).

Global has also called a shareholder meeting to approve the transaction. The meeting will be held on July 25, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Metropolitan Hotel, 625 Howe Street, Vancouver, British Columbia. An information circular containing details on the transaction and information on how Global shareholders may receive the consideration for their shares is expected to be mailed shortly.
