I think I see where you are coming from. However I don't agree that deflation will directly cause a market correction. Indirectly, if earnings decrease from competition and inability to raise prices and thereby maintain margins. Okay, but that would take a while to show up. But I'm afraid that it's my belief that most companies are still exceeding earnings estimates. I'm not sure that Glenayre will even meet estimates but I do think you could find a better put candidate.

I would recommend that you spend some time at the insider trader site and look hard at the insider selling at some of these overvalued companies. I would look particularily hard at some of the overvalued industries where several companies in a group have been selling. If you went far enough out you would have the potential of both an industry correction as well as the deflationary effect to which you alluded to to put you in the money. That way you have more time and more of an overvalued stock to work with!
