At this point, where do you think Obama is on the political spectrum?
That he voted against Roberts is, to me, a very big deal because one simply cannot cast such a vote without being either stubbornly partisan or extreme.
Roberts is, without the slightest doubt, the most qualified candidate for the Court to be nominated in my lifetime. Yet, Obama found an "out" for voting against him. This, to me, says one thing: Obama believes Court appointees should be be rejected based on ideology alone, which is an extreme liberal position anyway you slice it.
There are, of course, many other instances of his extremism, but none more important. Nobody who understands the Constitution (which Obama clearly does) AND chooses to live by it (a different matter) believes that a nominee should be rejected on the basis of ideology.
The vote against Roberts was Obama shouting at the top of his lungs, "I understand the Constitution doesn't intend for me do it, but I'm voting against this man on the basis of my ideology difference with him". I don't know what could be a better example of extremism. |
