We aren't building mass solar farms because most people think of solar as a great way to charge the battery of your attic fan, not a way to put power onto the grid.

No offense but I find this explanation wanting. If the solar farms were cost effective then the power companies would build more of them. We know nuclear works, we know it's clean, we know it's safe and we know the waste isn't dangerous after 50 or 60 years. Why not just go 100% nuclear now?
