Marcos, that sheep flatulence is actually burping, but people often have a scatological nature and like to think of farting sheep. It appeals to their sense of humour, though when you think about it, a digestive system is quite unfunny. In the human context, it's funny because G-- was created in the image of Man and to think of G-- letting off is a counterpoint to omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent; which seems tautological since each implies the other in a Goedel Escher Bach self-reverential manner]. The high camp of a Royal Wedding or Coronation, punctuated by a plosive sound puts the whole scene in context and becomes funny. Apparently Craig Ventner is on the case to get bugs to produce diesel type fuel from cellulose. That would be a good trick and should easily be doable since plants make all sorts of oily stuff and so do animals. There are obviously genes out there which get it done. The ingredients would be salt water, microbes, cellulose, sun, and air. The output would be kerosene/diesel liquids. Australia could be covered in it. Or huge ocean farms might be the way to do it.
