"are you serious?"

Yes, I am. I understand your points that Democrats have funded the wars and that Obama is caving in to the warfare state in order to be elected.

The world is much bigger than US internal politics, which will matter much less by 2012. With indebtedness to other countries, particularly China and Japan, the US will not be the world leader then. When our foreign masters jerk the funding chain, we can either go Zimbabwe, or we can do their bidding. Of course, if the neocons are still pre-eminent, we can blow up everybody.

It will be bitter for US citizens to realize that we belong to a subservient nation. But we will accept it, as the Brits did in the 20th century, because alternatives are too grim to consider, and life is sweet. My view is that the choice for the future is being made now, and that the majority are choosing a second-class US by default; through jingoism, through increased deficit-spending, through increased warfare and entitlements, and without realizing the choice they are making.

The other nations of the world, particularly those who finance us, want an end to warfare, and want atonement for the hundreds of thousands of needless deaths, occasioned by Wubya's lies and bellicosity. When the truth starts to come forward, it will be much worse than anyone expected, and the US will be confronted with the choice to give him up for prosecution, or starve (in energy, finance, food, international respect, etc.)

This is not "wishful thinking" that evil befall Dubya. In fact, I know his mother and regret the pain he is putting her through. She is a fine person with a nasty kid. So it goes.
