The folks at Sun have to make some changes all right, but the $64 billion compound question is who, how and when and why? (I guess that's $16 billion per.)

Apple had to climb out of the hole dug for them by the hijackers who pulled off the coup against Steve Jobs in the first place. When he came back, Apple came back.

But unless Sun's board makes an emphatic move, the pony patrol will just keep pulling down their deluxe compensation packages until the shareholders' equity vanishes down the drain.

I don't think we have a parallel situation here. There won't be any genuine product visionary riding to Sun's rescue. I wrongly thought authentic genius Andreas Bechtolsheim might be the guy, but not so.

What do you expect to see happen, Charles?
