<< I never heard of a ring-leading woodpecker before. That's a good one!>>

Years ago I hunted pheasants in S. Dakota. One farmer thought one pigeon was a ringleader about bringing in pigeons to crap on his equipment. That pigeon tended to stay where he couldn't be shot and the farmer was worried about a shotgun boom might spook his cattle and run some pounds off. I pulled my 10 bore out and told him I could kill that bird at 60 yards but it was going to make some noise. He said do it. Whoopmph and a dead pigeon and 100 steers running and shitting and blowing snot out of their noses. He thanked me.
