T. Boone Pickens was testifying before Congress late last week and I caught some of it on TV. He was talking about what it would take to get wind power to the point where it could produce 20% of US baseload requirements. He thinks it could be done in 10 years as opposed to the DOE's 20 year estimate. Apparently there is fierce opposition to the high-power transmission lines that are required to connect the areas where the power can be generated to where it can be consumed. I think that will change, but for now, those are the types of barriers that are still in place.
