You couldn't have an Obama candidacy any other way.

Only through a predominantly grass roots constituency could you get enough people to buy into the "charisma ==> qualification for office" concept.

Over time, the grass roots support will hopefully cede to the sensibilities of the voters, and they'll realize that you cannot put a rank amateur picked off the street in the office and expect to have a good outcome. More than half of people surveyed today believe he is too inexperienced, although, inexplicably, some of those say they vote for him. I'm not sure how these people reconcile the two ideas, other than perhaps they are so cynical they underestimate the importance of the office.

In the end, it is hard to believe that ostensibly intelligent people like you and CJ are going to vote for this fool. But sometimes, liberalism just overwhelms the soul.
