"Sounds like the fears of nuclear war were "overblown."" Probably. As it turns out, the government consistently overestimated the threat for political reasons. There is a lesson here for the astute. The threat was the total destruction of our civilization and the deaths of probably hundreds of millions or even billions of people. How can the threat of terrorism exceed that?
