Concurrent Calls Up VOD Pitcher
Time Warner Cable, Bright House Among ‘Start Over’ Customers
By Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 6/23/2008 10:01:00 PM
Philadelphia—Concurrent Computer is adding resiliency features to the Real-Time Pitcher 2000—a component of its MediaHawk video-on-demand platform—that the company said provides content-ingest success rates of up to 99.999%.

The RTP2000’s primary function is to convert unicast file-transfer protocol (FTP) transfers to multicast FTP. The RTP2000 takes incoming video content and “pitches” it to several real-time catchers, from which video-on-demand servers then pull and stream selected content to an end user.

Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks both offer Start Over service, which allows subscribers to rewind certain programs, using Concurrent’s VOD equipment and software.

Concurrent will exhibit the RTP2000 at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers’ Cable-Tec Expo conference here this week.
