The immediate benefits can be gained from automakers manufacturing cars which give 40 plus miles to a gallon. The technology is there. It can be done now.

Next issue which can be solved now it to take a look at the public transportation in the metropolitan and suburban areas of large cities. The auto industry lobbyists have exerted their influence to keep the public transport system to a skeleton at best. Time for Obama to get those lobbyists out and revamp the public transport system

Third thing that I think will reap quick benefits is to give a tax break to those who install solar for home use. Very useful in sunshine states.

Both the candidates are indulging in gimmickry with regards to energy. And the two oilmen in the White House are not helping either.

And the Iraq war is consuming a phenomenal amount of oil. The Arab states know t hat and they are using the oil weapon.

Stop the Iraq war and release oil from the reserves. The price of oil will come down significantly. BUt is anyone in the US serious enough to act?
