That really doesn't make a lot of sense. They could sell that oil for a lot of money, and supertankers cost money to keep running (although they could be set up to be stationary nearly uncrewed tanks rather than functional movable tankers. For example the Knock Nevis was converted from a huge supertanker to a "floating storage and offloading unit" en.wikipedia.org
