Paul Krugman explains it all very well in his book: Conscience of a liberal. I listened to the CD while roaming the west coast this winter.

What has gone on by the neo cons in the last 30 years isn't just insanity, but I would argue involves treason by way of war profiteering, etc.

But we secular humanists, who watched all of this unfold with horror, are as rare as the spotted owl and can never be elected to any office with lying/spinning we like to call it-lol.

We rationalize our lies by understanding we have a dilemma which can only be solved with an existential decision.

i.e. we do not have a problem which has a solution.
