We were up in Georgian Bay for a long weekend - A20's mom and dad's 65th wedding anniversary. This is the first time I've noticed fewer boats on the water and some of them not at full throttle....price of gas.

That part of the country is so beautiful. We had one whopper of a storm Saturday night that knocked the Hydro out. So, it was like the old days with oil lamps and candles. We had a huge dinner, washed the dishes in the lake and had a great time singing songs and playing Parcheesi. We had A20's dad write down all the projects he wanted done on the island and then assigned them to everyone (there were about 25 people there) - we got it all done. He used to work like crazy every time he was up there and now is unable to do it, although he was out with a bow saw cutting small dead branches. A20's mom commented at dinner, "the middle to late 80's is not for sissies".

The growth around Toronto continues....with the exception of Newmarket farm lands, it is all developed from Toronto to Barre....then it gets more remote as you head towards the Bay.

Long drive back (12 hours) with horrendous thunderstorms with volumes of rain - we had to pull off the road twice because the wipers on high speed couldn't get the water off the windshield.

We are headed out to Wisconsin next week to see A18 and her family. And, we are also going back to Georgian Bay later in the summer.

Seeing the Red Sox play the Diamondbacks tonight - only get to Fenway Park a few times a year - it's really something special.
