Who said society will become unstable without Social Security and Medicare? Seems like society will be a lot better off if citizens can take care of their own health care and retirement, rather than rely on the government for these services.

But unfortunately they can't. Folks are barely getting by and we're heading into a recession.

It's pretty much a given that the the larger the percentage of dirt poor people, the less stable your society is. And an unstable society destroys wealth, it doesn't create it.

I've talked to several libertarians, and none of them fit that characterization. There's a big difference between minimalist government and no government.

David Ray was just saying about the only thing worthwhile about government was the military. So lets have a military junta as it's working so well in Burma.

Government is HUGE in this country. From the smallest hamlet, to every city, town, county, state and of course the Feds. It IS this country, how we relate to each other and organize ourselves, and IS what has made this country great. It's not the people, it's not the geography, it's the government.

It gets old watching people diss the ole stars and stripes. Millions have died fighting for our form of government.
