Maybe. But if we have an industry that can't compete on the world markets, then I personally don't want to subsidize that business with my tax dollars. So I say lift the tariffs. However, right now the Brazilian labor used in the sugar business is essentially slave labor. So we need to address free trade in such a way that Brazilian businesses doing business here in the states have to comply with US law all the way through their enterprises. Otherwise, US businesses are not playing on a level playing field. So we can offer to cut the tariff for Brazilian businesses that can prove they comply with US law in how they run their businesses.
