I presume the pop up yesterday was due to the strong move into gold. The drop today is likely due to the downgrades and the announcement on the power rate increases for Ghana, which I also assume drove the downgrades. On the other hand, if gold does continue to increase, that could compensate for the current rate increases. Moreover, since the rate increase represents a significant increase over the actual cost of production, GSS and others miners may be able to renegotiate those rates closer to the cost of production which could drive the price back up. All this does reveal the sensitivity of GSS to the cost of energy.
