I have a friend who's works for Big Pharma advertising, and I asked him whether he feared universal health care taking away his job. He felt reasonably secure in the notion that government won't want to break up Big Pharma immediately because they still have lots of influence over government.

The government isn't going to nationalize Big Pharma... when was the last time the US government nationalized any business. But I think your friend might have a problem... if they had to cut cost marketing/advertising might have to go. Which would probably be a good thing as I'm not sure consumers should be making drug decisions based on flashy advertisements instead of doctors based of efficacy.

With Democrats openly talking about taking over Big Oil...

How many Dems are talking about taking over the oil industry... a majority of them?
