Ted, > Some voted for Kerry. Some didn't bother to vote. Many held their nose and voted for the continuation of tax cuts.

So how did Kerry lose, if he convinced a significant number of conservatives to not vote for Bush?

Kerry didn't convince them. In fact, the Bush 527s convinced them that Bush, not Kerry, was the best choice and to vote for him. Of course, it was a lie and Kerry was the much better choice but conservatives innately don't like change so they voted for Bush to their very deep regret.

Maybe Bush won independents, moderates, and some liberals. Cause you know, when Rove played to the conservative base, he was actually going for people in the middle, AMIRITE?

Rove's way of playing to the middle was to invoke fear. Its very hard to judge where people are really at when they are filled with fear. I wouldn't put too much weight on what happened in 2004. Then again, you can do what you want.......you always do.
