I, too, am a subscriber to Straegic Investment, and have been for many years. Have been to one of Mr Davidson's "retreats", was angrily disappointed, as it was not as advertised. I am becoming very cynical concerning his picks in mining stocks. Have done much better selectively following his recommendations of oil explorers. i.e. Harken and Seven Seas, but only by selling when they rose. (Both are rising again.) Have read all his books, including the latest, "The Sovereign Individual", and find them fascinating. He is betting about half the ranch in his present growth portfolio on Oroperu, and he indicates his belief in a much larger value for the company than you have opined. Would you mind elaborating your calculations re value in the next couple of years? Davidson has stated his belief that the Co should rise to perhaps $30 OR $40, and soon. He seems to think it might be bought out. As you say, his mining stock recos have been uniformly and awesomely awful. Moreover, he has a vicious habit of dropping failed stocks from his recommended portfolios without informing his faithful followers who have bought and held on his recommendation, leaving them to lose everything, twisting in the wind. In short, I like his writings, but he is IMO the soul of icy, pseud-neo-aristocratic arrogance, who has to force himself to regard us ordinary clods as fully human. Withal, I have great admiration for his mind and his courage.
