The military analysis that I've heard doesn't seem to agree with you.

MacArthur thought it would be "easy" to defend the 38th parallel too, but he was almost overrun. N.Korean troops wouldn't be your typical enemy. They'd be like a million "suicide bombers".

Despite air superiority, enough of those artillery pieces would survive to flatten Seoul and decimate our troops in the first 12 hours.
