It's rather disappointing that it was so close - it's a victory none the less. A

What bothered me about it was the fact it was essentially a party line decision, with Kennedy breaking the tie. If you read the descent half the Court was prepared and willing to say that a fundamental premise of our Constitution was meaningless. Obviously, beyond obviously, the Constitution NEVER envisioned that gun ownership might be contingent upon membership in some kind of militia. Obviously.

Yet, nearly half the Court was willing to declare the Second Amendment null and void, at least in terms of what the framers intended -- in the interest of partisanship. It really says a lot about what the Court has come to.

Kennedy is clearly the most powerful man in America today, and will be for the foreseeable future unless McCain is elected. Scary thought.
