Exactly! 70% of modem sales are X2 (3COM). Guess what, this means that all those modem buyers are going to need a ISP that supports X2.
Of course the ISPs know this. If they don't already provide X2, then they are going to rush to get it, and put the other 56K spec. on hold.

If you were a ISP, who would you rather provide for? 30% of the modem buyers or 70%. Duh, right!
So 3COM is going to win in two ways: ONE it sells more X2 to consumers, and TWO it provides to the ISP.
There is also a third benifit which will show later, and that is the backbone that 3COM is creating for their next generation product.
