Regarding potential final game
Proposal:
If the backup spreadsheet master does not want to run the contest, I propose the following.
1. Register a domain, such as stockpickcontest.com, sipicks.com, or whatever makes sense and is available. 2. I code up the rules of this contest within that website. 3. Each player who wants to enter will register with an email as username. This email will not be used ever, except in the case of a lost password request or upon user notify settings (which will default OFF). 4. Each player uses the website to manage their picks as well as their adjustments rather than posting here and having a single source manage it. So people can see what everyone is up to, posting here also is encouraged, but will not affect the game website. 5. The website will ensure the rules, as stated in #2, such that people can trade twice a month, only one short, no more than 50%, etc. 6. The quotes and tallies will be updated at say 8PM EST and be made available on the main page. 7. Anyone can copy and paste that to post back to this thread.
Extra: Will run one google text ad strip on the page. Purpose is to subsidize domain hosting fees. Anything in excess can be donated to the winner's favorite charity. Since click throughs from a small group of people are likely to be small, I do not foresee it to be in excess of the 10$/mo hosting cost.
Questions out to you all:
A. Is it a good way to keep this alive and reduce single-source management burden?
B. Would you participate in this format?
C. Any adjustments or other comments about this proposal? |
