It may be less lying and more about looking himself in the mirror. The attacks on McCain mirror those on Kerry regarding service. The right joked about kerry being shot in the ass running away was the implication. But to his larger point, what kerry did post war is open to debate as is what McCain did/does. What happened during their service is in their records and that is end of story for me.
PS What inode misses is that the current attacks by the left on Mccain are taken from the republican rt wing playbook of 2000 primary season. This is truly a case of what goes around comes around by two. I dont like it but i understand it but if i was a lefty swifty, i would be careful about the backlash with mccain. One does not have to demonize him to beat him. He looks more and more like dole in 96.
Did you see krugmans article today about obama on whether he was going to be a transformational president like reagan or more like clinton. I am actually rooting for the former because whether one likes reagan or not, we needed to get out of a similar then that we need to get out of today. Progressivism/reformism rooted in the american experience and american values is what we need today. I am thinking TR more than RR or FDR.
