The cast clearly struggled with the phonetics and I suppose there were times when they had to just let an inferior take become final.

Yes, the scene where Mal locks Jayne out and intends to let him die when they break atmo is one of the all-time greats. There is MUCH heat in that scene.

Mal is such a flawed, complex character, but he always looks out for the well-being of his crew.

That was also Shepherd Book's comment to Inara, after he brought her dinner on his first night aboard Serenity. I loved the half-guilty, half-pleased look on her face when Book turned her same question about Mal back to her.

And the next camera angle following that exchange was classic. Recall it?
