BOP = Blowout Prevention
RAM = a BOP gadget that closes the space between the borehole wall and the casing to contain fluids associated with blowouts. In this case, the casing is 4 1/2 inch diameter pipe.
HYDRIL is a firm that manufactures a variety of BOP equipment. BOP equipment is normally installed in a vertical stack along much of the upper borehole length.
Come to think of it, they (HYDL, I think) may be worth investing in....probably way off the radar. 5000 may refer to feet below grade or to a proprietary HYDL product model. I think it refers to depth below grade here.
TSTD = tested to 250 and 3000 feet. Testing for specific depth intervals, probably the integrity of different components of the BOP system.
Drld = drilled. I assume they have overdrilled their 4.5 in hole with larger drill stem, since they talk about running 7-inch CSG (casing or pipe) to 9760 foot depth.
They used 400 SXS (sacks) of cement, sand, or drilling fluid additive or something. They are waiting on the completion rig to complete the hole (grout to the surface, install well head, etc.).
So they have a 7-inch casing sitting in a larger diameter borehole, installed to a depth of 9760 feet. They have also installed and tested blowout protection. A fair amount of ambiguity here but you get the idea....they are getting ready to complete their well and get on with well testing. |
