Food stamps are a big part of what gets listed as farm subsidies. And while you could view payments to farmers as corporate welfare, you also could view it as a policy to keep food prices cheap.

Anyway, his position is defensible only if you use an absurdly narrow definition of social spending, which is a common liberal trick.
