Speaking of which, I bought a scooter from our daughter who was going to live in Oz a few years ago. I love it. On a sunny day it's a lot of fun to zip around town, park anywhere. A LOT of care is needed, so driving is fun instead of being boring. <
Scooters...are selling as fast as their little wheels can carry them from showroom floors. Sales have jumped 23.6 percent in the first quarter of 2008 compared with the same period in 20

It's cheaper on fuel, but that's not an issue for me. It's the convenience and fun factors.

These days, traffic flow around Auckland is greatly improved as the impecunious don't drive as much. Now their low-value driving doesn't impede high-value people so much. As the price of crude falls, governments should increase taxes on fuel and decrease it on cyberspace [and should decrease it overall too, and cut spending dramatically on swarms of ridiculous things].

Thank goodness for the fuel crisis. Better still would be cheap fuel and road tolls based on how busy roads are. With electronic, GPS and other technologies, road tolls are the way to go.
