It wouldn't be hard to do. After all, the whole thing that makes spam worthwhile is that it is automated. It shouldn't be too difficult to figure out what patterns were being looked at and fake that.

No, they aren't. But a primary design goal of Google's algorithms is they scale. They are also use several learning heuristics that improve accuracy over time.

Google recruits a lot from A&M and they send people by to give talks. And that is their mantra.
