McCain is, by any reasonable measure, a war hero. If the act of being shot down and serving 5 long years in the Hanoi Hilton doesn't qualify him, his refusal to take advantage of an opportunity to leave early because of who he was, does. McCain took the most cowardly position in the military - air force. He bombed civilians and took on minimal risk to himself. When he got very unlucky and that minimal risk actually materialized, he didn't take one for the team. Instead, he gave crucial military secrets to the enemy to avoid torture. counterpunch.org Can you imagine, in your wildest dreams, Obama doing such a selfless thing?
