The inputs to coal production have ongoing costs year in and year out. Wind turbines onces established create power out of thin air, literally. The only ongoing costs include maintenance which are far lower than that of coal mining production. Same goes for solar, once they get the efficiencies higher and the costs lower through economies of scale. Keep in mind that coal has already reached economies of scale and therefore, new efficiencies will be hard to find. Wind and Solar are still moving up the curve on economies of scale, so efficiencies will continue to come fast and furious, especially for solar. Coal and oil are staring at true competitors here, if we can just get Bush and his idiot henchmen out of the way.
