I date back to Amdahl 470 V/6 with punch cards and PDP8's with KSR 33s. My first personal computer was based on a CDP1802 that I built from a kit.

We're from the same era, then. Never worked on an Amdahl, but worked with PDP8/11 for years (RT11 & RSTS/E before VMS). My first was the [first] Popular Electronics' kit.

I was also stuck on this POS for three years, though:
