"If Q wants the market to attribute some value to these businesses, it is pretty simple....they need to start giving out some metrics"

While individual shareholders may call for valuation on these pursuits I don't seem to recall Q having ever done so. Please correct me if I am wrong but it seems to me that Q is making long term decisions and is more concerned with execution than whether the "market" happens to get it in the near term. Pleasing the street is like trying to please a self absorbed women. The whole exercise is pointless and does nothing but waste time and resources.

I propose that Q have an informal mascot in the form of a grindstone. It could even replace the O in Qualcomm but that would require QUALCOMM which, well, you know.
