And, if the charts keep falling, another "crisis" will come along. That is just the way bear markets tend to work. Price keeps falling and then, only later, we see that we have another crisis to deal with. When the oil one goes to the back burner, the talking heads will be blaming something else.

BTW, with respect, I reject forcefully the notion that we can "mitigate" something like the bursting of the credit bubble. That is not a controllable event, no matter what levers government would have at their disposal and no matter how hard they pushed on them and no matter what combination of levers they tried.
