this is just one more reason the brits should demand the right to bear arms.

many years ago a high ranking manager took me to a big soccer game in the uk. outside and inside there were lots of fights as we came into the stadium and even when we were in the stadium during the game. this manager had been in the usa many times at lots of sporting events. he reflected that he had never seen any such violence in the usa at sporting events and wondered why. i told him that it happens in the usa, but it is rare. i told him my reasoning was that we have guns legally in the usa, and people will use them. his questions stopped immediately as he said out loud that, yes, he could see getting beaten up a bit or getting teeth bashed in was not as much of a deterrent as the thought that one might get his head blown off.

an armed society is a polite society.
