i believe the orginal celebration was on the 2nd. so i've gone back to the roots of the matter and dispensed with the fluff.

last time the gold ratio to the dow was 1:1 was the old high back in 1980. we are currently approaching 10:1 as the crow flies.

the question is, does the dow go down or gold go up in terms of the ratio, if indeed you think something like 1:1 will occur again.

in which case there are all sorts of plausible scenerios. gold 5k, dow 5k for example is probably the easiest to imagine.

or gold 500 dow 1000 2:1

in 1988 the ratio was around 1.67/2.00

should the bkx never regain 60, its a free fall on the chart to 30. add 5 points for the misery index, and you get 25, which would equate with bkx 1988.

if you consider much of this began after greenprint took over after the 1987 crash, and you gave back everything during his tenure of float and gloat... given the premise that the entire enterprise has been based upon loose monetary policy from his first day on the job...........

then 1988 would give you spx 300-400 for example.

nasdaq.. hard to say. it wasn't the same set of stocks back then, let alone the technology base.

dow.......... its a flip if you consider how populated the spx is now with financials vs the dow and its industrials.

my running theory of late.

how about some really smart dudes from all over SI cough up your thoughts on this scenerio. don't be shy, and don't worry, if you're rude, a ban can be arranged anyway <g>
