Lindy, I think for myself thanks. I haven't bought "the Liberal view". Neither do I get my thoughts ready-made by Fox "news".

The USSR expansion was stopped long before Reagan came on the scene. The Berlin airlift and confrontation in Cuba were markers for the end of USSR growth in power. Reagan didn't give an inch.

Unfortunately, the adventure by the Korean spy airliner into Russian airspace ended as one could expect it would. So the cold war wasn't casualty free by any means and including proxy wars was quite a mess.

What Reagan did was hold the line and keep it strong.

You make the common mistake of thinking you have to be somewhere to know about it. These days, we can see further than the horizon, hear much more than half a mile, or a kilometre for the metricated, and cyberspace really opens things up, cutting out the "official" media who always love to filter things with their own ideological bias.

I don't have to ask Eastern European "leaders" what they think. I got lots of information without them filtering it and can put the information together to make all sorts of conclusions.

I give most credit to Gorby for moving beyond the barbarisms.
