There is no way we liberals and conservatives can communicate I fear Ann. We see the world very differently. It is like there are two different subspecies of humans. We live in different worlds of reality. Our values and perceptions are too different to bridge the gap it seems. Soemthing for you to ponder: every advanced country on earth is essentially conservative/moderate to liberal. Every backward country on earth and dictatorship's are conservative. Everyone. Not one exception. In statisics that would be considered statistically significant. There is not one backward country or dictatorship in the world that is liberal, not one! They are all cosnervative. North Korea and Saudi Arabia and iran being among the most conservative. At least their leaders are. This divide between liberals and conservatives has evolved over the last 50 years as we humans increasingly became aware of our differences and the conservatives moved to the Republican party and the liberals to the Democratic party. Now on all talk programs a liberal is balanced with a conservative and a conservative with a lberal. This manifestation is worldwide. There used to be conservative Democrats and liberal Republicans, but those days are gone. Now we just fight. Conservative against liberal and liberal against conservative. In our congress the most conservative democrat is more liberal than the most liberal Republican. Using a statistical model there are two populations (think bell curve) with only a small overlap (libertarians). In both houses of congress this is true. I am not sure how our country will survive with this dichotomy. We liberals admire men like Adlai Stevenson, FDR, JFK, McGovern, Clinton, Martin Luther King and Ceaser Chaves. Conservatives liked Nixon, Reagan and Bush, Tom Delay, Jesse Helms, Strom thrumond and Trent Lott and George Wallace. On issues it is the same. Liberals are almost all pro choice and conservatives pro life. Liberals believe we need to balance our budget even if we need to raise taxes. Republicans pay no attention to our deficits and would rather borrow from our children than raise taxes. Republicans never speak of raising taxes no matter how much it may be needed. War in Iraq: liberals are agaisnt it, conservatives support it I have debated guys like bearcat bob for years: Neither of us has ever been able to see the other's point of view. So it is senseless. I see no answer. Arguing over these issuses gets us nowhere it just creats tension and derision. So it seems pointless to me. I congratulate you for not banning me. Cheers,
