many moose: middle east is among the most conservative places on earth. They share much more with US coservatives than liberals. If that's the case, how come you liberals keep interfering with conservative efforts to bring democracy to that region? koan: I have thought for a long time you may be right there moose. I remember you as being one of the more thoughtful conservatives from other threads. History may show the cultural diffusion going on in the middle east will have a big effect on changing their 13th centruy culture, which is dangerous in the nuclear age. I think it was the way it was done. Bush lied about Iraq from beginning to end and then to add insult to injury completely botched the job. He also put our economy and country in danger financially by not getting the rest of the nations to help like his dad did. Wolfowitz said the oil would pay for the war. Well it didn't. Bush went into Iraq for oil (Greenspan) hoping his buddies could get at it. In fact he would not share anything with Eruope as they did not help. Now we need Europes help and they are pissed at bush's attitude. Personally I hope we stay in Afghanistan until democracy is firmly established. Even if it takes a hundred years-lol. The Taliban can never be allowed to control that country again! but we do have lots of help from nato there. We are being played for fools in Iraq. Sadam at least had a secular governemtn with quite a few rights for women. the shia clerics will reinstitute shira law, and destroy the sunnie. We can never win in Iraq, so all the money and lives we have spent will be for not. It was stupid to go into Iraq without our allies. In Afghanistan we had the support of the world. Cheers,
